Danish press photographers and photojournalists have throughout the years received considerable recognition worldwide for their unique style. Lately we’ve seen the Danish photographers acknowledged at Photographer of the Year International, where Mads Nissen, Morten Germund and Jacob Ehrbahn as well as Lærke Posselt were rewarded for their photos. Lærke Posselt was also rewarded in World Press Photo with her portrait of actress Melisa Mehraban, where Jan Dagø also won for his photos from Tahrir Square in Cairo.

It is therefore not without reason that the union, which houses most of these photographers, this year can celebrate their 100 year anniversary.

In connection with the anniversary the union has chosen to publish the book “The Witnesses – The History”, which shows Danish press photography through the last century. The book launch is Friday the 17th of February from 2 pm till 4 pm at The Worker’s Museum. In spring the celebration continues, when the exhibition “Danish Press Photography in a Century” opens May 15th at the King’s New Square in Copenhagen.
