The Swedish photographer Mats Bäcker did in 1977 shoot his famous black and white photo of Iggy Pop. The photo of the punk ledgend giving the audience the finger has since reached an icon status. In the exhibition Raw Power at Malö Museum Bäcker’s complete collection of rock photography, which for the first time can be experienced in large scale.

The frozen moment of Iggy Pop at Dad’s Dancehall in Copenhagen is a stronge symbol of a new era and a new type of rockbands, says Mats Bäcker. For Bäcker the photo was the beginning of a succesfull carrier as one of the best rock photographers in Sweden. By the end of the 1970’s and the beginning of the 1980’s Bäcker portrayed rock and punk stars by portraits and documented them on stage as well as backstage
